I was watching the Ancient Aliens episode on the Cappadocia underground city in Turkey and how it possibly goes back 12,000 years as a possibility. Also stated as possible was that people attribute the Phrygians as possible architects of the cave. The Phrygians were an ancient people. Phrygian linguistically caught my attention because it sounds like my name Friscia linguistically with the way it is pronounced and I wondered if there were any links or derivative path to Phrygian from Friscia, which we pronounce "Freesha."
A cousin stated the following with regards to his knowledge about the name Friscia:
"The name Friscia could be an Italianized Frisch and may have come across the Adriatic Sea from Albania. Frisch is a jewish last name. The Friscias in NYC were all business owners and merchants, this family here in NY came here and were Barbers, Liquor Store owners, Lumber Yard owners and Pharmacy owners and that happened in their first generation here, unusual for first generation italian families"
"My great grandmother was a Friscia, Rose Friscia daughter of Leonardo and Donna Theresa Friscia, the Donna was a honorary title at that time only given to wealthy land owners or those of old money---This is from Ancestry=====Southern Italian (Sicily): if not of Albanian origin, possibly from an ethnic name from a female palatalized form of frisius ‘Frisian’."
My curiosity is, is there any link since there seems to be linguistically with the way people pronounce Phrygians, an ancient people. I have greek DNA and my uncle, a Frisca tested as similar dna connection to anotolia...my brother also registered some DNA to the Levant where Israel and Jerusalem. So the Phrygians were allegedly connected to greece and anatolia and according to my cousin we are possibly linked to Jewish name Frisch.
Anyways I may never know but its possible this is some obscure knowledge lost or that someone somewhere has or can discover and confirm one way or the other.
