Averse to excercising as a teenager

As much as football toughened me up a bit, it also because of the bootcamp like style made me a bit averse to exercising outside football as a teenager. I didn't know anything about nutrition and weightloss. I was what we called a "big ugly" or whats called a "big ugly," a lineman, even though i was tiny. I took pride in the name at least I wasn't a "pretty boy". I tried to beef up my body for the role. I liked the idea of being a lineman since i was a kid, i just didn't realize i wasn't going to grow. Anyways I didn't start exercising again until my 20s when I began playing basketball again. It was like returning to childhood and was so much fun. I realized I could run longer distances and it made me happy. Looking back I don't know if I would have played parks n rec basketball if I would have been healthier longer as a teenager. I contemplate if i did it all over again doing that since basketball was really the real sport i loved, but football taught me determination, physical pain, being tired and finding energy and perseverance and being a runt and grunt in the greater scheme of life.
